What does the term "steward" mean?

"And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, 'Do business with this until I come back.” Luke 19:13

The original sense was one who looked after the domestic animals, and gave them their food. The meaning derived from this task was “one who provides for his master’s table” or more generally, “one who superintends household affairs for another.” In simple terms, a steward is a servant…one who looks after the property and affairs of others. A steward at Amity Bible Church is charged with the responsibility to represent Christ in all aspects of life, ensuring that Christ receives a good return for His investment in us.
